Weekly Art! — 02/23/09

Okay, second piece of Weekly art. It’s a Banner promoting AFP’s (if you don’t know who that is: http://amandapalmer.net/index.html) upcoming concert in March. I shall be attending this concert and you should totally go! It’s freaking worth it, trust me.

That’s all for this week!

Road to Hana Pestle (Day Two, Part Two/Two)

I’m a little late on updating this. Oops. Anyway, last night was amazing. Probably one of the best nights I’ve had in a while. I got a buttload of amazing things from the Lovely Miss Katrina Bleckly, Beth Hommel, and Hana Pestle.

I got lost. Like, HARDCORE lost. I had to call Katrina, talk to Kayla (a friend of Katrina), get her to tell me where to go, totally screw that up and end up asking a cute little old lady in a Taco Bell how to get there. Luckily she knew EXACTLY what I was talking about. Little old ladies in taco bells are the best.

So, we all met (all meaning Katrain, Kayla, Lia, Hana, and I) at a place called “Coco Cafe”, which happens to be one of AFP’s favorite places to eat in Nashville. They were all so amazing to hang out with, and a year’s worth of stories to tell. “Accidental Meat”, the name of a Vegan Meat Company. (It’s fake, but it was a funny story)

Dinner consisted of food being passed around the disfigured circle. There was some really nice food at this place. A friend of Katrina’s, Liz, made these chocolate covered strawberries and they were freaking AMAZING. Hana was totally thankful later that night when Liz showed up at the venue. They really were tasty.

Dinner was over and we all left for a little while. It started to get really dark in there when the sun went down. So Katrina, Kayla and I went down to Kayla’s car because Katrina had some stuff to give me. I almost peed my pants. I totally love her and Beth Hommel. I handed over some buttons I’d made along with a few that they weren’t expecting. Then, it was off to the hotel for a while!

THE CONCERT

Showed up at the venue around 9:10-ish, doors opened around then. There was this nastly little man in red who was taking tickets. He was a total douche. Gave him my ticket (WHICH I WANTED TO KEEP, jerkface) and spotted Lia and Hana off in a corner. They were setting up the Merch Table. I bought this amaaazing Hana Pestle Shirt that’s green with an arty image of Hana on it along with her amazing logo, an EP (which Hana very nicely signed), and Hana/Lia gave me some stickers that a fan of theirs had made.

This particular fan also set up the HanaFans website. Which is a place for her fans to gather and so much. Here’s some linkage for you: http://hanafans.com/

Hana did amazing on stage. I loved every minute of it. We ended up staying until Pat McGee finished up. He took FOREVER, it was seriously 3:10 in the morning before he was done. We took some group photos and such, I’ll upload them later, I’m totally drained. I wouldn’t have traded this weekend for about anything. Hana is so nice in person, really sweet. Lia (which is Hana’s best friend by they way) is amazing, she’s really nice. Kayla seemed pretty cool, she was a little tipsy though. (:. And Katrina, pssh, she knows she’s cool. Haha.

Finally got to sleep around 4:00 (a.k.a. 5:00 GA time).

Road to Hana Pestle (Day Two, Part One/Two)

Woke up about 5:00 TN time (which is 6:00 in GA time). Went downstairs to find out I could use the computers and started trying to find where in the world I was going tonight. It turned out that 3rd and Lindsley is not very far from where I was staying. I waited a little while until my mother woke up, hopped in the car, and went on the lookout. It took a while (Nashville is a MAZE), but at last, I found it. A rush of excitement flew over me as I did. To do list: - Find 3rd and Lindsley (CHECK) Next thing to do was hang out for a little bit, get some infomration straight and do some more exploring. I went off with my mother to try and find the Coco Cafe where I was meeting Katrina and Hana later. It turns out that Mapquest sent us out in the middle of NOWHERE when what we were looking for, was RIGHT DOWN THE STREET. It was freaking hilarious. We ended up going to another hotel to ask for directions and they kindly gave us some correct google-map directions. Mapquest, you better sleep with one eye open tonight buddy. To do list: - Find 3rd and Lindsley (CHECK) - Find Coco Cafe (CHECK) It’s about 3:14 here and I’m finishing this up. Only a little bit longer until we’re meeting up at the Cafe. That’s all for now! ~Brent

Road to Hana Pestle (Day One, Part One)

Alright. So the first day (I’m counting Thursday Evening as day one) was FULL of packing, driving, sleeping, and texting. Super fun. Haha. When we first started driving things were fine, we luckily didn’t get lost on our way there. We stopped for dinner at a passing McDonalds (pictures to come later). The guys in front of us in line were pretty strange looking, or at least they seemed strange. It dawned on me while standing in line: “I wonder how different it is living here than inC umming GA?” After about 4-5 hours of driving and looooonnnggg highway streets, we reached our destination: Nashville TN!! EXTREMEMLY EXCITED. We checked into our rooms, got our things set up and went our separate ways. This didn’t last long though. The toliets in my mother’s room were broken and overflowing at a touch of a button. She got moved up a few floors into one of the 800 rooms. It was pretty funny. xD I ended the night watching some television and texting and finally, got to sleep. 1 Day away from Hana Pestle/Katrina/AMAZINGFULNESS With Love ~Brent
